Morissa F. Rivo of Boca Raton, Florida, a registered representative with Signator Investors, Inc., was barred by Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) from associating with any member in any capacity in connection with Rivo’s failure to cooperate with a FINRA investigation into allegations of Rivo’s misconduct. Letter of Acceptance, Waiver and Consent, No. 2014041961001 (Jan. 15, 2016).

According to the AWC, Rivo’s attorney received a request from FINRA on October 7, 2015, for Rivo to appear and provide on-the-record testimony, pursuant to Rule 8210, for purposes of a FINRA investigation. Rivo’s attorney notified FINRA via e-mail on October 8, 2015, indicating that Rivo would not be cooperating in the investigation. Rivo never showed up on the November 16, 2015 scheduled testimony date. As a consequence of failing to appear for testimony, FINRA found that Rivo was in violation of FINRA Rules 8210 and 2010.
Public disclosure records via FINRA’s BrokerCheck reveal that Rivo has been subject to six disclosure incidents. On October 23, 2013, MetLife discharged Rivo amid allegations that Rivo failed to follow MetLife’s policies concerning customer signatures on account documents. On October 3, 2014, Rivo settled a customer dispute for $5,100 after a customer alleged that she was sold an unsuitable life insurance policy on March 17, 2014.
On April 10, 2015, Rivo was again faced with a customer complaint regarding unsuitable policy recommendations, where Rivo settled the matter for $68,027.51. On April 17, 2015, Signator Investors Inc., discharged Rivo after alleging that Rivo had failed to comply with Signator’s procedures and policies. On November 16, 2015, Rivo became subject to a pending customer dispute, where the customer is requesting $9,054.07 after alleging to have been tricked into purchasing a variable annuity.
