Robert Mark Star, of Bluffton, South Carolina, a stockbroker formerly registered with EDI Financial, Inc., has been named in a customer initiated investment related arbitration claim on May 12, 2016, in which the customer requested $640,800.00 in damages based upon allegations that Star overconcentrated the customer’s investment portfolio in private placements, and made unsuitable investment recommendations to the customer concerning real estate security products.
Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Public Disclosure also reveals that on April 2, 2003, a customer initiated investment related arbitration claim involving Star’s conduct was settled for $62,500.00 in damages based upon allegations that Star, while associated with UBS Painewebber Inc., traded in the customer’s account on an excessive basis, and effected unsuitable and unauthorized over-the-counter equity transactions in the customer’s account.
Star’s registration with EDI Financial, Inc. was terminated on January 24, 2014. Since February 10, 2017, he has been associated with IBN Financial Services, Inc.
