Travis Jerome Hughes, of El Paso, Texas, a stockbroker formerly registered with the defunct Investors Capital Corp., was the subject of a customer initiated investment related Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) securities arbitration claim that was settled for $75,000.00 in damages based upon the alleged overconcentration of the customer’s account in real estate securities during the time that Hughes was associated with Investors Capital Corp. FINRA Arbitration No. 23-00108 (September 1, 2023).

Investors Capital Corp. defuncted, or at least withdrew its securities broker-dealer registration in January 2017, when all or substantially all of its assets were acquired by Cetera Advisors LLC or one of its related entities.

FINRA Public Disclosure shows that Hughes is referenced in eight other customer initiated investment related disputes concerning Hughes’s conduct while associated with securities broker dealers. On January 6, 2009, a customer filed an investment related complaint involving Hughes’s conduct in which the customer requested damages based upon alleged unauthorized trading, omissions and misrepresentation of material fact, and fraud in connection with the sale of variable annuities when Hughes was associated with AXA Advisors. This complaint was denied.

On April 24, 2007, a customer initiated an investment related complaint involving Hughes’s conduct was settled for $25,000.00 in damages resulting from the sale of life insurance products during the time that Hughes was associated with AXA Advisors.

Hughes was also referenced in a customer initiated investment related complaint that was settled on July 10, 2007, for $289,000.00 in damages based upon alleged unsuitable recommendations in variable life insurance products.

On October 12, 2011, a customer initiated an investment related civil action involving Hughes’s conduct was settled for $10,000.00 in damages based on alleged unsuitable recommendations in variable life insurance policies. The customers claimed they sustained losses and were not aware that their value depended upon market performance. Civil Action No. 2009-3115.

Hughes has been associated with Cetera Advisors LLC in El Paso, Texas as a stockbroker since October 3, 2016, and with Cetera Investment Advisers LLC as an investment advisor representative since February 1, 2024.

Hughes was associated with Investors Capital Corp. and Investors Capital Advisory in El Paso, Texas from September 29, 2008, to October 3, 2016. He was also associated with Cetera Advisors LLC in Greenwood Village, Illinois from October 3, 2016, to March 21, 2024.
