Todd Mathew Bruns, of Folsom, California, a stockbroker registered with Edward Jones, is the subject of a customer initiated investment related Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) securities arbitration claim in which the customer requested $54,403.62 in damages based upon allegations that Bruns failed to follow the customer’s directives of liquidating funds and placing them in money market funds, resulting in losses. FINRA Arbitration No. 23-02702 (October 3, 2023). No information is given as to when the customer provided these instructions or when the customer knew or should have known that these instructions were purportedly not carried out.
In any event, this is not the first time that Bruns has been referenced in a customer initiated investment related dispute concerning Bruns’s conduct in the securities industry. FINRA Public Disclosure shows that Bruns was also referenced in a customer initiated investment related complaint filed on April 2, 2003, in which the customer requested compensatory damages based upon allegations that Bruns mismanaged the customer’s account during the time that Bruns was associated with Prudential Securities Incorporated. The securities broker dealer denied this complaint.
Bruns was also referenced in a customer initiated investment related complaint filed on March 3, 2009, in which the customer requested compensatory damages based upon allegations that Bruns went against the customer’s wishes, resulting in losses. According to the complaint, while associated with Edward Jones, Bruns was informed of the customer’s age and health and told not to diversify her portfolio of Wells Fargo stock because of potential tax implications. The complaint alleged that Bruns insisted on diversification, resulting in capital gains taxes and additional losses for the beneficiaries. This complaint was also denied.
Bruns has been associated with Edward Jones in Folsom, California, since October 17, 2003, as a stockbroker and since November 6, 2006, as an investment advisor representative.
