Robert Carl Ruff (also known as Bob Ruff), of Toledo, Ohio, a stockbroker registered with MML Investors Services LLC, was the subject of a customer initiated investment related complaint filed on July 20, 2023, in which the customer requested compensatory damages based upon allegations that Ruff made misrepresentations of material fact in connection with the sale of life insurance products when Ruff was associated with MML Investors Services LLC. The complaint alleged that the customer was not apprised that the premiums for her variable universal life policy could increase, and that had she been aware of this, she may have reconsidered the purchase. This complaint was denied.

This is not the first time that Ruff has been referenced in a customer initiated investment related dispute concerning Ruff’s conduct in the securities industry. FINRA Public Disclosure shows that Ruff was also referenced in a customer initiated investment related complaint that was settled on June 16, 2003, for $6,016.59 in damages based upon allegations that Ruff provided incorrect information which resulted in a delay transferring funds to Midland National, causing a loss when her funds were transferred.

Ruff is also referenced in a customer initiated investment related complaint filed on June 21, 2013. The complaint alleged poor performance of the PIMCO Total Return Fund, and that Ruff should not have advised the customer to leave the money in that fund during the time that Ruff was associated with MML Investors Services LLC. The securities broker dealer denied the complaint.

Ruff has been associated with MML Investors Services LLC in Toledo, Ohio since July 27, 1988, as a stockbroker and since January 22, 2004, as an investment adviser.
