Michael James Thaler of Henrico, Virginia, a stockbroker registered with Cambridge Investment Research Inc., is the subject of a regulatory investigation that resulted from a customer’s complaint about the stockbroker during the time that Thaler was associated with Cambridge Investment Research Inc. Commonwealth of Virginia Investigation (November 17, 2022).
Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Public Disclosure shows that Thaler was also referenced in a customer initiated investment related complaint filed on September 29, 2022, in which the customer requested compensation based upon allegations that Thaler made unsuitable recommendations of BDCs or Business Development Companies when Thaler was associated with Cambridge Investment Research Inc. The complaint alleges that the investments were illiquid and had performed poorly. The securities broker dealer denied the customer’s complaint.
On November 7, 2022, another customer filed an investment related complaint involving Thaler’s conduct in which the customer requested compensation based upon allegations that Thaler recommended illiquid BDCs and oil and gas investments which poorly performed. This complaint was also denied.
Since November 22, 2011, Thaler has been registered with Cambridge Investment Research Inc. as a stockbroker and Cambridge Investment Research Advisors Inc. as an investment advisor representative.
