Craig Sherman Thistlethwaite, of Perrysburg, Ohio, a stockbroker associated with Morgan Stanley, has been discharged by the securities broker dealer on January 17, 2023. The termination was based upon Thistlethwaite supposedly entering transactions in two related customers’ accounts without receiving verbal confirmation, purchasing a timeshare from a customer without firm approval, and engaging in unauthorized communications with a customer.
Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Public Disclosure shows that Thistlethwaite is referenced in two customer initiated investment related disputes concerning his conduct while associated with securities broker dealers. On December 29, 2022, a customer initiated investment related FINRA securities arbitration claim involving Thistlethwaite’s conduct was settled for $4,200,000.00 in damages. The claim was based upon allegations that Thistlethwaite made unsuitable recommendations of a stock options strategy from May 2015 to May 2021. FINRA Arbitration No. 22-00218.
On December 1, 2022, a customer initiated investment related FINRA securities arbitration claim involving Thistlethwaite’s conduct resulted in the customer being awarded $11,500,000.00 in compensatory damages because Morgan Stanley was held liable for sales practice violations. The Statement of Claim alleged negligence, failure to supervise, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of FINRA rules, unauthorized trading, breach of contract, fraud, violation of FINRA rules, and violation of Florida Securities and Investor Protection Act in connection with the sale of options and technology stocks, including MSFT, CRM, AAPL, NVDA, and TSLA.
