Christopher John Shaw (also known as Chris Shaw) of Belmont North Carolina a stockbroker of Kalos Capital and investment adviser representative of Kalos Management is referenced in a customer initiated investment related FINRA securities arbitration claim in which the customer requested $175,000.00 in damages founded on allegations that Shaw breached a fiduciary duty to the customer in reference to alternative investment transactions at Kalos Capital. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Arbitration No. 21-00807 (Mar. 30, 2021). According to the claim, the customer had been placed into illiquid, risky and inappropriate non-traded real estate investment trusts and direct investments including direct participation programs or limited partnerships. The claim also alleges breach of contract and negligence which resulted in the customer’s losses.
FINRA Public Disclosure confirms that Shaw has been identified in six customer initiated investment related disputes regarding accusations of his wrongdoing while associated with Pruco Securities and Kalos Capital. On May 5, 2020, a customer initiated investment related FINRA securities arbitration claim regarding Shaw’s conduct was settled for $175,000.00 in damages supported by allegations that between November of 2012 and May of 2017, the customer had been placed into unsuitable investments including a real estate security and an oil and gas security. FINRA Arbitration No. 19-01140.
Shaw is also the subject of a customer initiated investment related FINRA securities arbitration claim which was resolved for $125,000.00 in damages based upon accusations of bad alternative investments being sold by Shaw while registered with Kalos Capital. FINRA Arbitration No. 19-03047 (Nov. 23, 2020). The claim alleges breach of fiduciary duty in reference to unsuitable alternative investments.
On January 18, 2021, another customer initiated investment related FINRA securities arbitration claim concerning Shaw’s activities was settled for $41,237.00 in damages founded on allegations that Shaw provided unsuitable recommendations in regard to investments in a private placement and real estate security. FINRA Arbitration No. 20-00661. The claim alleges misrepresentation by the stockbroker while registered with Kalos Capital.
The stockbroker is additionally referenced in a customer initiated investment related FINRA securities arbitration claim which was resolved for $13,183.00 in damages supported by accusations that the customer was solicited for an investment in a direct participation program or a limited partnership when that customer was not qualified for the investment and had not received the offering memoranda or other subscription documentations pertaining to their purchase. FINRA Arbitration No. 20-01214 (Jan. 18, 2021).
On January 18, 2021, another customer initiated investment related FINRA securities arbitration claim regarding Shaw’s conduct was settled for $50,000.00 in damages based upon allegations that the customer received bad advice from Shaw regarding their investment in GPB Capital. FINRA Arbitration No. 20-04001.
Shaw is also the subject of a customer initiated investment related FINRA securities arbitration claim which was resolved for $14,125.00 in damages founded on accusations of misrepresentation by the stockbroker in regard to a private placement. FINRA Arbitration No. FID1190833 (June 15, 2021). According to the claim, Shaw made unsuitable recommendations regarding the private placement offering. The claim also alleges breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract as well as the violation of North Carolina securities laws in regard to Shaw’s activities at Kalos Capital.
Shaw’s registrations with Kalos Management and Kalos Capital have been terminated on May 9, 2019. He was registered with Pruco Securities between May 15, 2019 and September 2, 2020. He was discharged from Pruco Securities based on allegations of his unauthorized trading and mismarking of customer order tickets.
Since September 24, 2020, Shaw has been registered with Newbridge Securities Corporation as a stockbroker. And since January 13, 2021, he has been registered with Newbridge Financial Services Group as an investment adviser representative.
