Lisa Babin Mantei (also known as Lisa Lyn Mantei), of Lexington, South Carolina, a stockbroker registered with Centaurus Financial Inc., according to FINRA Public Disclosure, has been referenced in six customer initiated investment related complaints.
On June 14, 2023, a customer filed an investment related Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) securities arbitration claim about Mantei, alleging unsuitable recommendations of risky and illiquid investments. The customer sought $200,000.00 in damages. On March 12, 2024, the dispute was settled with Centaurus Financial paying $45,000.00 to the customer. FINRA Arbitration No. 23-01597.
On April 27, 2020, a different customer alleged that Mantei misrepresented material facts about investments. The customer sought $128,000.00 in damages. On November 17, 2020, the case was settled with Centaurus Financial paying $5,000.00. FINRA Arbitration No. 20-01267.
On March 20, 2020, customers alleged that Mantei concentrated their portfolio in unsuitable investments and breached her fiduciary duty. The customers requested $100,000.00 in damages. On September 11, 2019, customers alleged misrepresentations of material fact and breach of fiduciary duty. The customers requested $57,000.00 in damages. On July 16, 2020, the case was settled with Centaurus Financial paying $55,000.00. FINRA Arbitration No. 19-02273.
On July 29, 2019, customers alleged that Mantei over-concentrated their accounts in unsuitable and illiquid investments from 2013 through July 2019, including real estate securities, corporate bonds, and CDs. The customers sought $100,000.00 in damages. On June 25, 2020, the case was settled with Centaurus Financial paying $22,500.00. FINRA Arbitration No. 19-02028.
On October 25, 2018, customers alleged that their investments were unsuitable based on their investment objectives, requesting $233,238.00 in damages. The case was closed on July 29, 2019, with no payment made to the customers.
In all cases, Mantei denied any wrongdoing and stated that investments were suitable based on customers’ objectives. He did not contribute to settlements of the disputes. Mantei has been associated with Centaurus Financial Inc. since May 19, 2015.
