Joshua Houston Westerman, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a stockbroker formerly registered with Morgan Stanley, was discharged on July 24, 2023. The termination followed allegations that he engaged in unauthorized communications with customers about firm-related business. There were also allegations concerning Westerman’s activity related to his former girlfriend’s credit line and external brokerage account, as well as Westerman’s handling of complaints related to these allegations and his conduct during the review process.
FINRA Public Disclosure shows that Westerman is the subject of a customer initiated investment related complaint filed on May 31, 2022, in which the customer requested compensatory damages based upon allegations that Westerman made unsuitable recommendations of structured products to the customer in 2021. At the time these activities occurred, Westerman was associated with Morgan Stanley. As of November 14, 2022, the complaint was denied.
Westerman was also referenced in a customer initiated investment related complaint that was settled on August 7, 2023, for $71,590.00 in damages. The complaint alleged that the investments and strategy recommended by Westerman at Morgan Stanely between 2021 and 2023 were unsuitable.
Westerman was associated with Morgan Stanley in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from December 4, 2017, to August 9, 2023.
