John Joseph Stapleton of Garden City, New York, a stockbroker currently registered with Spartan Capital Securities, is referenced in a customer initiated investment related securities arbitration claim which was settled for $10,000.00 in damages founded on allegations of unsuitable investment recommendations and misrepresentations by Stapleton when he was employed by Spartan Capital Securities. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Arbitration No. 19-03740 (February 22, 2022).
Stapleton has been identified in four additional customer initiated investment related disputes containing accusations of his conduct during the time that he was employed by securities broker dealers, including Craig Scott Capital, Continental Broker Dealer Corp, JHS Capital Advisors LLC, Rockwell Global Capital, and Spartan Capital Securities. With the exception of Spartan Capital, these other firms have been expelled by regulators or are otherwise defunct. FINRA Public Disclosure shows that a customer initiated investment related complaint involving Stapleton’s activities was resolved for $40,000.00 in damages based upon allegations of misrepresentation concerning risks of over-the-counter equities transactions for the customer’s account while Stapleton was associated with Continental Broker Dealer Corp. The claim alleges that options and margin were not explained by Stapleton.
Stapleton is also identified in a customer initiated investment related arbitration claim which was settled for $250,000.00 in damages supported by accusations that unsuitable over-the-counter equities transactions were made by Stapleton at JHS Capital Advisors. The claim alleges that Stapleton engaged in unauthorized transactions and had misrepresented information to the customer.
Stapleton is the subject of a different customer initiated investment related arbitration claim where the customer was awarded $20,600.00 in compensatory damages founded on Stapleton being found liable for unsuitable Groupon (GRPN) common stock trades. FINRA Arbitration No. 16-03645 (October 2, 2017).
On December 20, 2021, an additional customer filed an investment related arbitration claim regarding Stapleton’s conduct in which the customer requested $350,000.00 in damages based upon allegations of breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty concerning equities transactions while Stapleton was registered with Craig Scott Capital, Rockwell Global Capital, and JHS Capital. FINRA Arbitration No. 21-02922. The claim alleges that Stapleton had the customer invest in unsuitable investments.
